Paris: Uefa has charged Dynamo Kiev over the alleged racist behaviour of the club’s supporters during Tuesday’s Champions League match with Chelsea in the Ukraine capital.
A Uefa statement announced: “Disciplinary proceedings have been opened following the Champions League group stage match between FC Dynamo Kyiv and Chelsea FC (0-0) played on 20 October in Ukraine.”
The charges relate to “racist behaviour ... crowd disturbances (and) stairways blocked” during the goalless draw at the Olympic Stadium, the statement added, and concern an incident captured on camera by the organisation Football Against Racism in Europe.
The footage apparently shows a group of Dynamo fans attacking four black men after spotting them in a neighbouring section of the stadium.
The case will be heard on October 27.
Dynamo were fined €15,000 by European football’s governing body earlier this year following their fans’ racist behaviour during a Europa League match against Everton.
The Ukrainian side were also punished for setting off fireworks and for insufficient organisation during the 5-2 second leg win in March.
Uefa also ordered the partial closure of the stadium for the first leg of the quarter-final against Fiorentina.
