Model made of carbon fibre and wax has the physical attributes of some of the best players in European soccer
Dubai: At 6 feet 7 inches and with the physical traits of nearly every great of the game, the Castrol Edge Ultimate Performing Player is every bit the first all-round footballer of his kind.
Unveiled in London on Saturday by Castrol Edge and Ivory Coast manager Sven-Goran Eriksson, the Ultimate Performing Player can boast a transfer value of over £270 million and has a collection of world-class football skills that would have top managers around the world clamouring to sign him on.
Unfortunately, this seemingly perfect and towering footballer is a model engineered by Castrol. Objective data and highly-advanced technology was used to analyse the performance of over 2,000 players in Europe's top five leagues to create a shortlist of 10 whose footballing skills and attributes were deemed worthy enough to create the world's most formidable footballer.
The Ultimate Performing Player is made of carbon fibre and wax and took over six months to create by two former Madame Tussauds artists.
Eriksson, who unveiled the model, said: "I've been lucky enough to work with many of the world's best footballers in my career, but this truly is the Ultimate Performing Player. Within this one player Castrol has included all the attributes, both physical and mental, that a manager looks for in his signings."
Castrol is encouraging fans who don't agree with the players selected to have their say and log on to castrolfootball.com/upp to submit their own Ultimate Performing Player.
The Ultimate Performing Player will now go on a worldwide tour.
