Al Wahda meet Iraq's Arbeel in warm-up tie

Al Wahda began resumed training at Al Nahyan Stadium yesterday after returning from the three-week camp in Austria where they played six warm-up matches. They won five and lost one.

Al Wahda are preparing for Asian Champions League quarterfinals against Saudi Arabia's Al Hilal on September 19 in Abu Dhabi and the away match one week later in Riyadh. Al Wahda coach Ivo is giving final touches to the team to meet Al Hilal.

Al Wahda, who finished runners up in the league last season, will play their first warm-up match on Friday against Iraqi club Arbeel at Al Nahyan Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

Esmail Mattar, Haydar Allo Ali and Abdul Rahim Juma who were recovering from injuries during the training camp in Austria, will play the warm-up against the Iraqi club. Al Wahda, who have played in the Asian Champions League are hoping to beat Al Hilal and reach the semifinals. They are keen to clinch the Asian title as the second UAE club, following in the footsteps of Al Ain, who won it in 2003.
