Ajman Club hoping for turnaround in home game
Dubai: Ajman Club will be looking to return to winning ways at Ajman Stadium tomorrow when they take on Sharjah in a Stage-15 encounter in the professional league.
Ajman finished in fourth place at the end of Round One with 18 points after being promoted last season from the second division to the professional league. However they suffered reverses after the second round began last month, going down to Al Wasl, Al Ahli and Al Shaab.
The team dropped to fifth place and are separated from Al Shaab (threatened by relegation) by just five points.
Not surprisingly, Abdul Wahab Abdul Qader, the Ajman coach, was fuming after the Al Shaab match which they lost 2-0.
Abdul Qader made only a vague announcement to the media, giving away signs of brewing tensions between him and the team manager, Ahmad Al Raeesy.
However, a visit to the team's training session two days ago by Shaikh Rashid Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, the Ajman club president, seems to have helped matters.
Al Nuaimi spoke to the coach, manager and team, calling for unity in a bid to inspire a showing similar to the first-round performance.
"Shaikh Rashid Al Nuaimi's wise advice to the team solved all the problemes and they promised to put the last three defeats behind their backs and turn a new page in which they will return to their winning ways starting from the coming match tomorrow against Sharjah," said Khalifa Al Jerman, the Ajman Club board of directors deputy chairman.
