Fiba says no doping offence recorded at Worlds

All players tested during the men’s, women’s and youth events came clean

Geneva: Basketball’s international governing body says no positive doping tests were recorded at the World Cup or its other major championships this year.

Fiba says more than 300 samples were taken at the men’s World Cup in Spain, the women’s world championship in Turkey and the Under-17 worlds for men and women.

Fiba says no banned substances were detected. It says three samples had “atypical findings” but further checks determined the values were natural.

Fiba says the results confirm “that all players who participated are clean” and basketball is “a low-risk doping sport.”
