Dubai: Ehsan Hassan Ebrahim's idol is the legendary Carl Lewis and he has been working hard to emulate him.

In the UAE Our Own Inter School Athletics meet at the Dubai Police Stadium, Ebrahim shattered the 100 metres and 200 metres meet records to bag the super senior champion award.

Ebrahim is a 12th Grade student of the Indian High School, Dubai and has also been winning gold medals in long jump.

He had even won gold medals in the CBSE National Athletic meet in India.

"My aim is to become an Olympic champion and win gold medals in 100 metres, 200 metres and long jump like Carl Lewis," remarked a confident Ebrahim, wearing all the medals he won and holding a trophy for the most outstanding athlete.

"Usain Bolt, Mike Powell and Ben Johnson are all my heroes and I hope one day to achieve the glory they too achieved", he added.

Though Ebrahim knows that he has miles to travel to reach the level of his heroes, he believes that dreams can be achieved with hard work. Backing him in his effort is his father Ebrahim Ummer Beary.

‘Lucky'

"From the fourth grade onwards my son used to bring medals from all athletic events he participated. So I arranged for some coaching. Since he is studying at Indian High School he is lucky to be coached by Dr Tapan Das and his assistants. I also sought help from coaches Khamis, Esmail and Godwin of the Al Wasl Club," remarked Beary.

Cross-training

"To gain more strength, I take my son regularly to beaches and practice with car tyre on sand. He is also a brown belt in karate and is good in swimming and cricket," added Beary.

Ebrahim's allround effort has won him many accolades. At the age of 16, he participated in the Open All Karanataka State Athletic championship held in Bangalore, India and won the best athlete award.
