Dubai: The Dubai Sports Council (DSC) will host the Fifth Congress of International Council for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, Sport and Dance (ICHPER SD) for Middle East on September 20-21.
Held under the theme “New Issues in Sports Science — Sports Technology”, the event is being held as part of the directives from His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai and Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman, DSC in an attempt to foster smart practices in daily life and use of technological development.
The Congress will take place at the Etisalat Academy as part of the memorandum of association, signed recently between the DSC and Etisalat Academy that is aimed at boosting common efforts to enhance the local sports sector.
The conference is to be attended by a panel of elite sports scientists who will exchange knowledge, thoughts and experiences in keeping with its theme.
The congress is meant to popularise the culture of excellence in sports science in various communities of the Middle East.
Besides facilitating a meeting among scientists, specialists and experts to discuss means to boost the sports scene, it will focus on the latest sports technology.
Among the topics to be discussed at the congress will be sports science, latest developments in sports technology, talents and methods of selection, educational technologies and scope for growth in women sports.
Last year, the DSC organised the Dubai International Forum for Sport and Technology under the banner ‘Technological applications to boost sports performance’ with participation from 60 coaches and administrators from various Dubai clubs.
