Dubai: The Young Talent Cricket Academy (YTCA) players got the chance to play in ICC's Global Academy's specially made bouncy wicket and defeated the touring Barmy Army Colts team from England.
The Global Academy has made different kinds of wickets to help players.
Though Colts posted 203 for 5 in 35 overs through their openers Coluerd (47) and Harbourne (33), YTCA reached the target.
One ball to spare
Their openers Salman and Dharam put on a 50 plus partnership. Chirag Suri (67) and Sairaj (48) ensured the victory with one ball to spare.
The game was played on a wicket similar to the one in WACA, Australia.
Shahzad Altaf, the head coach of the YTCA, said: "The ICC has done a commendable job and this will help youth cricket in the UAE. They have given these boys an opportunity to play on quick and bouncy wickets."
Meanwhile, the Delhi Private School (DPS) in Sharjah and Manipal University recorded victories in the Sundeep Batavia Memorial inter school cricket tournament and Maxtalent Inter University tournament respectively.
In the inter-school tournament which is being played by schools from Mumbai, Muscat and Kuwait — DPS defeated Ecole Mondiale Mumbai by 62 runs at the DPS ground. DPS scored 127 for 3 and restricted Mumbai to 65 for 2. Sparsh top scored for DPS with an unbeaten 33.
