Dubai : The UAE women's cricket team will participate in the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Twenty20 women's tournament to be held in Kuwait.
"Following the superb performance of the UAE Under-19 team in the ACC Under-19 women's championship in Singapore, we are keen to provide as much exposure as possible to women cricketers in the UAE," remarked Mazhar Khan, the Administrator of the Emirates Cricket Board to Gulf News.
"During the Under-19 championship we won four out of the five matches and even made it to the semi-finals for the first time," added Khan.
"We will prepare the team for the Kuwait event early, like we did for the Under-19 tournament. The Twenty20 championship is to be held from February 17 and 12 countries will be competing in this tournament," he said.
Meanwhile, the UAE men's team will play against Kenya in the UAE early next year. The UAE team is currently in Kenya to play a few matches as part of a reciprocal understanding between Emirates Cricket Board and Kenya Cricket.
Kenya will play five one-day matches in January in UAE as part of their preparation for the International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup in February 2011 to be held in India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
