UAE universities battle it out for Elite Cup title

Dubai: The battle for supremacy among the University teams in UAE is in full swing during the Elite Cup Inter University tournament as part of the Nissan Gulf Cup event being held at the ICC Global Cricket Academy Oval ground.

Fahd Tarek's brilliant innings of 64 runs helped American University of Sharjah's (AUS) trounce University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD) by 63 runs while Skyline University bt UOWD by six wickets.

In another match, Canadian University beat American College in a thriller.

In the Under-13 category of the Nissan Cup, Ramal Perera and Nilukshan slammed half centuries to help Desert Cubs trounce Unique Cricket Club by 82 runs.

Batting first, Desert Cubs chalked up a huge total of 154 runs for six wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

Nilkushan Ramal displayed some aggressive batting as he hit up three towering sixers and five boundaries in way to scoring 67 runs.

Ramal was equal to the task as his unbeaten 58 was made with the help of seven boundaries.

In reply, UCT managed to score only 72 runs before being bowled out in 19 overs. Even the Under-11 match between YTCA and Al Ain Sportplex ended in a thrilling finish. YTCA rallied to beat Al Ain by three runs.
