Shafiq, Khan hit tons in Gymkhana's win

Abu Dhabi: Mohammad Shafiq and Mehroz Khan hit centuries as William Hare Abu Dhabi Gymkhana coasted to a third win in four games in the A Hamada Contracting Trophy Division One tournament.

Shafiq hammered 150 and Mehroz 102 not out as they put on 216 for the fourth wicket for Gymkhana to post 379 for five against Young Talents, who were skittled out for 171.

Gymkhana were given a sound start by openers Saqib Shah (36) and Mahmood Hassan (26) putting on 56 in under 10 overs.

Shafiq, who came in at No. 4, was joined by Mehroz when the score was 108 and the pair put Gymkhana on the path to victory. Zeeshan Safeer was the pick of the Gymkhana bowling in the reply, returning five for 54.

In another match, Tauqeer Ahmad stroked 115 not out to anchor Young Talents to a three-wicket win over Interface, the bottom team in Group A.

His 94-ball knock contained 13 fours and four sixes. Amaan Sherazi grabbed five for 34 to dismiss Interface for 260.
