Dubai-based academy's 10-day competition will begin on December 20

Dubai: A cricket academy in the UAE will be staging one of its annual tournament in Mumbai, the nursery of Indian cricket.

Max Talent Cricket Academy, based in Dubai, has decided to stage the fourth edition of the Maxtalent Bisleri Challenge Cup tournament in Mumbai under the auspices of the Mumbai Cricket Association.

"Our purpose of staging this tournament in Mumbai is to give the players from here the feel of Mumbai cricket and the intense competition for excellence among cricketers in Mumbai," Sudhakar Shetty, Head Coach of the Max Talent Cricket Academy, told Gulf News.

"We have invited five top academy teams in Mumbai such as Elf Vengsarkar Academy, which was named after former Indian cricket captain Vengsarkar; MIG Bandra team, where cricket great Sachin Tendulkar had played; Shivaji Park Gymkhana team, which produced players like Ajit Wadekar; Lalchand Rajput Academy and Abey Kuruvilla's New Mumbai Sports Association," added Shetty.

Friendly matches

During the tournament, the Max Talent team will also play friendly matches against P. J. Hindu Gymkhana, MIG and New Hind Club.

The 10-day tournament will begin on December 20. All the matches will be 50-over knockouts.
