Saeed Ajmal should have bowled flat in the last over
"Saeed Ajmal should have bowled flat in the last over," said Mudassar Nazar, Head coach of the International Cricket Council's (ICC) Global Cricket Academy and former Pakistan team coach.
"It was not a wrong decision to bowl Ajmal in the last over as he has won many Twenty20 matches for Pakistan. The first ball of his over was a perfect one, which yorked Mitchell Johnson. Instead of bowling such deliveries Ajmal flighted the ball to Michael Hussey, who chanced his arm to get those sixes. Ajmal should have bowled like former England off-spinner John Emburey, who could duck the yorker into the batsman," added Nazar.
"Pakistan's new ball attack was disappointing. Till the end they could not find who their best bowlers were and kept on changing in every match unlike the England and Australian attack," said Nazar — who was one of Pakistan's finest all-rounders.
"Pakistan's middle order batsmen were also not good. Misbah Ul Haq, Mohammad Hafeez and Abdul Razzaq could not do much. You need batsmen who can score quickly. Razzaq was not utilised properly, it's time they specified his role in the team," he said.
"The Australia-England final will be remarkable in many ways. England are looking good while the Australians are playing like champions. The Australians may benefit from the experience of winning many finals but England have many match winners in the team. It has been a wonderful Twenty20 World Cup so far," he added.
