Kumar steers Modern HS into final
An unbeaten 102, containing 10 boundaries and a six by Krishna Kumar, helped Modern High School beat Westminster and enter the finals of the Konica Cricket Cup played at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, being conducted by the Sharjah Cricket council.
Put into bat by Westminster, Modern High were in dire straits as Fawad rocked the top four batsmen for 23.
Krishna Kumar played like a seasoned campaigner on the Sharjah turf. He was given company by Karan, Josesph and Edwin to bring some respectability to the score.
Krishna found an able partner in Edwin (14 n.o.) to put a eighth wicket partnership of 83 runs to take the score to 185 in the stipulated 40 overs.
Along with Fawad(4-40), Umar was the other bowler to pick up 2 for 37.
Chasing a modest score of 185, Westminster School were in trouble from the beginning as they lost their first five wickets for 53.
Krishna Kumar and Karan bowled a good line and length to take wickets at regular intervals. Umar was the only batsman to score 23 runs while the rest struggled against some fine bowling and fielding by the Moderen High school lads.
