New Zealand Cricket board accept Moles' resignation ahead of one-day series against Pakistan starting on November 3 in Abu Dhabi
Dubai: There seems to be no end to New Zealand cricket team skipper Daniel Vettori's troubles.
Vettori, who could not get the services of his top players during the recent Champions Trophy due to injuries, will now be touring the UAE without a coach for his team.
New Zealand team coach Andy Moles has quit ahead of the One-day series against Pakistan in UAE starting on November 3 in Abu Dhabi.
New Zealand Cricket confirmed that Moles has resigned after a meeting with the board officials in Auckland.
It is understood that a review process of New Zealand team's tour of Sri Lanka and the Champions Trophy in South Africa was critical of Moles' performance.
Some of the senior players had even raised concerns about his ability as a coach. Moles was not even on talking terms with some of the senior players
Justin Vaughan, the Chief Executive of New Zealand, after accepting Moles' resignation said: "No head coach will be named for the upcoming limited over series against Pakistan but the remainder of the team's support staff will travel with the team to UAE."
Forty-eight-year-old Moles was born in Warwickshire and played first class cricket in England before becoming a coach. He took over from John Bracewell as New Zealand's coach last November. He was contracted till 2011 World Cup.
Moles guided the New Zealand team in seven Tests out of which four ended in a draw and lost three. In One-day cricket, the team registered nine victories and 10 defeats.
