Dubai: On Monday night, Vaibhav Suryavanshi's name was the centre of discussion among every cricket fan in India. The 14-year-old scored a sensational century that helped his team Rajasthan Royals win the match a crucial tie against Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League. He also became the youngest to register a T20 century and also the fastest century by an Indian in the IPL, breaking the previous record held by Yusuf Pathan, who had achieved the milestone playing for Rajasthan as well.

Vaibhav's rise to stardom was not an easy one. But backed with the support of his parents, the 14-year-old fuelled his dreams to achieve amazing success.

Infact, his father, Sajiv Suryavanshi, at a point had to sell off their family land four years ago to ensure that the family had enough money to fund their kid’s cricketing journey.

"He just wants to play cricket and nothing else. A few years back he loved Doremon, but not anymore. My son has worked hard. At the age of eight years, he excelled at U-16 district trials. I would take him for his cricket coaching to Samastipur and then take him back," Sajiv told PTI.

"It’s a big investment. I have sold my land. Financial issues are still there," he added about the big risk he took during his son's early days in cricket.

Vaibhav made headlines during the IPL 2025 auction when he was grabbed by Rajasthan Royals for a whopping Rs11 million to become the youngest player ever in the history of the IPL.
