Sydney Sixers post takes fans by surprise before they realise the truth
Dubai: Tuesday morning fans were in for a real surprise when one of Big Bash League's teams Sydney Sixers put a post announcing they had signed Indian star batter Virat Kohli for the next two seasons.
"King Kohli. Virat Kohli is officially a Sixer for the next TWO seasons," the caption from Sixers' social media post wrote.
The internet went abuzz with the news since Kohli will officially become the first cricketer from India to do so.
Since the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) doesn't permit its contracted players to play in foreign franchise leagues, this news did gain a lot of traction.
But it took a while for the fans to realise that Sydney Sixers played a trick on April Fool's Day. Across the world, April 1 is celebrated as April Fool's Day and posts like this are common.
