Neighbour files police complaint against Jahan and daughter after assault video goes viral
Hasin Jahan, the estranged wife of Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami, is once again facing legal trouble after a police complaint was filed against her by a neighbour, according to Indian media reports.
In the complaint, Dalia Khatun accused Jahan and her daughter from a previous marriage, Arshi, of attempted murder, criminal conspiracy, and assault. A video of the altercation — whose authenticity has not been verified — went viral on social media and appears to show the incident.
In the footage, Dalia — dressed in a maxi and dupatta — is seen confronting Jahan, who is wearing a black T-shirt and denim trousers, as she tries to push the brick wall. Dalia claimed she was severely beaten by both Jahan and Arshi during the confrontation.
The dispute centres on a plot of land in Suri town, Birbhum district, West Bengal, which is registered in Arshi’s name. According to Siyasat Daily, West Bengal police said Dalia objected when Jahan began construction on the plot, claiming the land was under dispute.
Police confirmed to the daily that no arrests have been made so far.
Previously, the Calcutta High Court ordered Shami to pay Rs400,000 per month to Jahan and their daughter Aaira as part of the divorce settlement. The couple’s four-year marriage ended in 2018 after Jahan, a former model, accused Shami of domestic violence.
