Dubai: Indian pace sensation has reportedly pulled himself out the Test captaincy race, according to a Sky Sports News report.

This meant Indian batter Shubman Gill and Indian wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant have emerged as top candidates for the post.

The position fell vacant after former Test captain Rohit Sharma announced his retirement from Test cricket recently.

Soon after, Bumrah was seen as the strong favourite to take over the post but the pacer is understood to have informed the selectors that he cannot commit to playing all five matches in long Test series because of workload concerns.

India are set to play five Tests against England and the selectors are keen on having someone who can be part of the full series.

The official announcement, along with India's squad for the England series, is expected by May 24.
