Dubai: Delhi Private School (DPS), Dubai, will take on Our Own Indian School, Dubai, in the final of the Al Sadiq Nissan Inter-School Cricket Tournament for boys aged under 10.
In their semi-final, DPS Dubai trounced Gulf Asian English School, Sharjah, by nine wickets, while Our Own Indian School, Dubai, beat Kindergarten Starters, Dubai, by four runs.
The final will be played at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Wednesday from 9am.
Vivek Aditya and Akshay Adur’s second-wicket partnership of 85 runs helped DPS record an emphatic win over Gulf Asian English School.
Batting first, Gulf Asian, who had produced an impressive showing in the event, posted a challenging 89 runs for two wickets in the allotted 12 overs. Ansh Tandon, who cracked 94 runs in the quarter-finals against JSS international school, carried his fine form to hit an unbeaten 63 off 37 balls with a six and 11 boundaries.
Chasing the total, DPS Dubai lost opener Vignesh Babu with just five runs on board, but Vivek and Akshay took on the challenge and ensured the victory in just eight overs.
Vivek cracked an unbeaten 64 with 11 boundaries and a six, while Akshay played second fiddle with 19 runs.
In the other semi-final, Our Own posted 70 for three in 12 overs, with Mohammad Yazid (16), Thejal P.Vinod (15) and Srinivas A. Gopinath (14) all contributing.
Chasing the total, Devnash Shekhar hit a fighting unbeaten knock of 29 but his effort went in vain as Kindergarten Starters fell short by just four runs.
