London: West Indies wicket keeper Denesh Ramdin has been suspended for two one-day matches and fined 100 per cent of his match fee for cheating during the Champions Trophy.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Monday ruled that Ramdin wrongly claimed the catch of Pakistan skipper Misbah Ul Haq during the ICC match against Pakistan on Friday.

Match umpires Steve Davis, Nigel Llong, Tony Hill and Richard Kettleborough charged Ramdin with “conduct that is contrary to the spirit of the game” following a hearing in London.

Ramdin pleaded not guilty to the offence.

“This is regarded as a serious offence as it is the  responsibility of all players to act in the spirit of the game," said Chris Broad of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees.

"I hope Mr Ramdin has learnt his lesson from this incident and that we will not see such behaviour by him or any player in the future,” Broad said.

Ramdin will not play in Tuesday’s match against India at the Oval and the last group game against South Africa in Cardiff on Friday.

It is unclear if West Indies will appeal the suspension.
