Dubai: Saqib Nazir and Natasha Michael will lead the UAE’s men’s and women’s teams at next month’s World Indoor Cricket Federation’s (WICF) World Cup in Dubai.

Played over one week at InSportz Dubai, the competition will see some of the best cricketing teams participate in Dubai from September 16 to 23.

Both teams, sponsored by DBMSC – Steel have been preparing for the World Cup for the past few weeks now. The teams were announced by Zayed Abbas, spokesperson, Emirates Cricket Board (ECB), late on Wednesday. “These players have been exceptionally committed to their training throughout the year, and their efforts have been rewarded by selection to represent the UAE,” Abbas said.

“Hosting the 2017 World Cup is a very proud moment for the Emirates Cricket Board. We are delighted with the calibre of the countries that are participating, and we are confident our UAE players have the skills and attitude to challenge the best. We wish them every success in this campaign,” Abbas added.

Men: Saqib Nazir (captain), Aqib Malik, Fahd Al Hashemi, Isuru Umesh, Nadir Hussain, Sachin Talwar, Nashwan Nasir, Prashath Kumara, Ramveer Rai, Sameer Nayak, Umar Shah, Vikrant Shetty.

Women: Natasha Michael (captain), Prachi Kumar, Chaya Mughal, Esha Oza, Fatima Ahsan, Heena Hotchandani, Humaira Tasneem, Kavisha Kumari, Namitha D’Souza, Roopa Nagraj, Subha Srinivasan, Shalani Wanniarachachi.
