Yuzvendra Chahal, Dhanashree Verma end divorce speculation

Dubai: Amid swirling rumours of a troubled marriage, Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and his wife, Dhanashree Verma, take a stand to set the record straight.

Indian spinner Chahal has been making headlines for the wrong reasons recently. Rumours circulated that he and his wife, Dhanashree Verma, were in the process of getting divorced. However, the 34-year-old cricketer and his wife put an end to the speculation by breaking their silence.

“I am grateful to all my fans for their unwavering love and support, without which I wouldn’t have come this far. But this journey is far from OVER!!! There are still many incredible OVERS left to deliver for my country, my team, and my fans!!! While I am proud to be a sportsman, I am also a son, a brother, and a friend. I understand the curiosity surrounding recent events, particularly about my personal life. However, I have noticed certain social media posts speculating on matters that may or may not be true,” Chahal wrote on Instagram.

While Chahal has concealed his thoughts — much like his well-disguised googly — Verma’s post provided more clarity on the topic.

“The past few days have been incredibly tough for my family and me. What’s truly upsetting is the baseless writing, devoid of fact-checking, and the character assassination of my reputation by faceless trolls spreading hate,” Dhanashree, a YouTuber, dance choreographer, and dentist, wrote in a long post on her Instagram story.

“I’ve worked hard for years to build my name and integrity. My silence is not a sign of weakness but of strength. While negativity spreads easily online, it takes courage and compassion to uplift others. I choose to focus on my truth and move forward, holding onto my values. The truth stands tall without the need for justification.”

Verma had also been linked with Indian batter Shreyas Iyer after a viral video surfaced of the two dancing together, but they enjoy a good friendship.

Chahal got engaged to Dhanashree, who had appeared on the reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Ja, on August 8, 2020. The couple married in a private ceremony on December 22, 2020, in Gurgaon. According to reports, Chahal removed all pictures with Dhanashree from his social media accounts, fuelling the rumours. However, the 28-year-old Dhanashree continues to post pictures of Chahal on her social media, leaving fans wondering.

Chahal will now be hoping to return to the Indian team for the Champions Trophy and continue to bamboozle batters with his skilful bowling.
