Abu Dhabi: Afghanistan skipper Asghar Afghan won the toss and elected to bat in their Asia Cup Super Four match against Pakistan at the Shaikh Zayed Stadium here. Gulf News was covering all the action as it happened with inputs from our Reporter N.D. Prashant:

4th wicket falls, Mujeeb Ur Rahman keeps Afghanistan in the match, Haris Sohail caught at long-on for 13., Pakistan 194 for 4 in 41 overs.


Pakistan reach 183 for 3 in 40 overs, needing 75 more runs from 60 balls to win the match.


Pakistan is 3 down. Rashid Khan has struck again and it's the big wicket of Babar Azam - stumped for 66.  Will there be a twist to the tale. Two well set batsmen are out and Pakistan still need 100 from 15 overs at a run rate of 6.66.

The long vigil final comes to an end, the partnership is broken. Imam-ul-Haq (80) run-out and it is 155 for 2 in 33.3 overs. 


Babar Azam and Imam Ul Haq have put on a partnership of 153 in 33 over to put Pakistan in the driver's seat. Azam is batting on 80 while Babar is on 63.

Babar Azam and Imam Ul Haq have put on a partnership of 80 runs in 20 overs. With that Afghanistan have introduced their trump card Rashid Khan into the attack.


Pakistan looking to recover from the early jitter are 36 for 1 after 10 overs with Imam Ul Haq on 27 and Babar Azam on  9.

Afghanistan skipper Asghar Afghan's blitz comes to an end for a 56 ball 67. Bowled by Shaheen Shah after being dropped in the same over by Haris Sohail. He has provided the much needed impetus to the total.  They are 194 for 4 in 43.2 overs.


Fifty for Shahidi and Asghar. The duo has put Afghanistan on course for that 250 plus mark which they will be confident of defending. They are 170 for 3 in 40 overs.

Nawaz is getting a bit of beating here with Afghanistan trying to stepup the run rate. Skipper Asghar Afghan going after him in the 38th over hammering a six and four in successive deliveries. Score 162 for 3 in 38 overs.


Afghanistan reach 125 for 3 in 33 overs, with Hashmatullah Shahidi playing on 41 not out and Asghar Afghan on 14 not out.


Aghanistan reduced to 94 for 3 in 25.3 overs. A well set Rahmat Shah becoming Mohammad Nawaz's third victim. Skipper Asghar Afghan with a six from the first delivery he faced from Nawaz get the Afghanistan's 100 onboard in 25.4 overs.

Pakistan's Nawaz gets another one and this time it is the aggressive Mohammad Shahzad (20). Caught behind as attempting a drive. It's 35 for 2 in 11 overs.

Afghanistan's Ihsanullah (10) couldnt make those two lifelines count. He walks back after handing a simple return catch to Mohammad Nawaz. Score 26 for 1.


Afghanistan have made a steady start and are being helped with some poor fielding. Ihsanullah has been dropped twice in two balls off Shaheen Shah. Fakhar Zaman and Usman Khan were the culprits. Score 26 for no loss after 8 overs.

Afghanistan skipper Asghar Afghan won the toss and as expected will bat in their Asia Cup Super Four match against Pakistan at the Shaikh Zayed Stadium  in Abu Dhabi. Both teams have opted for changes.

Afghanistan, who are looking to build on their upset wins over Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in the first round, brought in big-hitting batsman Najibullah Zadran for Samiullah Shenwari.

Pakistan brought in Haris Sohail, Shaheen Afridi and Mohammad Nawaz after losing to India by eight wickets on Wednesday, leaving out Mohammad Amir, Shadab Khan and Faheem Ashraf. Shaheen is making his one-day international debut.
