ECB Blues lose by six wickets despite making early inroads into rivals’ batting
Sharjah: Alubond Tigers Ibsons on Sunday beat ECB Blues by six wickets in a Group A match of the 5th Al Dhaid Ramadan Cup tournament organised by the Sharjah Cricket Council at the Al Dhaid Cricket Village.
ECB Blues won the toss and elected to bat first, with opener Rohit Singh scoring 55 from 54 deliveries,
However, none of the other ECB batsmen could reach double figures and their team was bundled out for a modest 110 in 19.5 overs.
Chasing a relatively easy target, Alubond Tigers Ibsons also faced early hiccups when they lost two quick wickets for just 22 runs.
But Zakir Malek smashed a 23-ball 39, including two boundaries and three sixes to give the chase the desired momentum. Malek also won the man-of-the-match award. His third-wicket partner Zeeshan Bangesh scored a steady 19. Hasan Raza then provided the final touches, scoring 25 to overhaul the target in just 18 overs.
