Lewis Hamilton produced one of the greatest drives in Formula One history yesterday to claim victory at the Brazil Grand Prix. The seven-time champion fought up from 10th on the grid to pass title rival Max Verstappen to take the chequered flag and keep his championship hopes alive. BRITAIN 2008, MCLAREN: Hamilton won his first title in 2008 and the race that summed up that season was at a wet Silverstone. In the pouring rain, while others went for wet tyres, Hamilton was blasted for intermediate tyres - but it was good move as when the others needed to stop later on to change, he was well clear.

CHINA 2011, MCLAREN: Even though Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel had the better car, Hamilton won by sticking to a three-stop race strategy so when he emerged late on with fresh tyres, he simply blasted his way through the field to win.

HUNGARY 2013, MERCEDES: He ditched McLaren and everyone wondered what he was doing but he proved them wrong at the Hungaroring by winning his first Grand Prix for Mercedes. Starting on pole, he preserved his tyres to give his team flexibility to make their pitstops. It was a great strategy as he won by 11 seconds with Nico Roseberg in a distant second.

GERMANY 2018, MERCEDES: This was a fantastic recovery drive from Hamilton. In qualifying, his car had hydraulic failure and he was pictured famously sitting haunched next to it on the track. Starting the race in 14th, he was aided by the rain which saw Ferrari's Seb Vettel crash. Then, the Brit made a last-minute decision to cancel a pit stop while Valtteri Bottas and Kimi Räikkönen who were both ahead of him stopped for tyres. Hamilton nipped in to win. It was a brave move which worked brilliantly.

TURKEY 2020, MERCEDES: He defied the odds again and over-delivered as he tiptoed through the rain to go from sixth to first. His team-mate, Bottas - in an identical car - spun six times - but Hamilton nursed his intermediate tyres for a staggering 50 laps to win by over 31 seconds to clinch title No.7.

BRAZIL 2021, MERCEDES: His latest performance could well be his best ever. It was a sensational drive. He recovered a total of 25 places over the course of the weekend to go from last to first over the three days to close the gap on Max Verstappen and remain in the title race.

It was the 101st victory of his career and it also sent a powerful message of intent to Verstappen and Red Bull. It could also be critical moment in the championship with just four races remaining.
