Look: Who are the oldest players to figure in IPL 2022 auction this weekend ?

Imran Tahir: The South African leg spinner with Pakistan origins may be the oldest player in the fray at 43 years, but he can still bring a lot value for any team. In 59 IPL matches so far, the man with his unique celebration style has captured 82 wickets.

Fidel Edwards: The West Indies pace bowler, now 40, is a surprise candidate to be shortlisted to go under the hammer. He had last played in the IPL way back in 2009 but was picked as a net bowler last season.

Amit Mishra: Delhi Daredevils had to let go the 39-year-old leg spinner this season, but the crafty bowler is certainly one of the unsung heroes in the history of the league. He is the third highest wicket-taker with 166 wickets, with only the retired Lasith Malinga (170) and Dwayne Bravo (167) ahead of him.

Shantakumaran Sreesanth: Love him or hate him, you cannot keep the 39-year-old swing bowler from Kerala down. He has come back in the fray after serving a seven-year ban on charges of spot-fixing last year, and is desperately looking forward to make into the IPL fold again.

Dwayne Bravo: The hugely popular West Indian, now 38, may have retired from international cricket after the T20 World Cup, but he is a real 'champion' of this format. It's difficult to visualise him without his favourite Chennai Super Kings shirt, but the wily performer is expected to generate a decent bid for him.

Wriddhiman Saha: The wicketkeeper-batsman, now 37, is a spunky character who has kept himself relevant in Test cricket with his technical superiority behind the stumps and useful batting lower down the order. He has played his part as a makeshift opener for Sunrisers Hyderabad for the last couple of seasons, and has the record of scoring a century in a IPL final (2014) for Punjab Kings but had to finish on the losing side.

Faf du Plessis: The former South African captain, now 37, had been a part of the 'Dad's Army' which was instrumental behind the consistency of Chennai franchise. He was the second highest rungetter in the season last year and should have no difficulty in finding a taker.

Samit Patel: The former England allrounder, now 37, had been a journeyman in the world of franchise cricket but is yet to make his mark in the IPL. With a 10-team IPL needing a greater pool of players, can he find a taker this time?

Murali Vijay: The former Indian opener, 37, has played his part for the Chennai franchise in the past but had been warming the benches for the last two seasons. Will he get an opportunity to go out with a flourish?

Dinesh Karthik: 'DK,' as he is popular as among his teammates and now TV commentary colleagues, is 36 but does not want to call time on franchise cricket yet. The veteran Indian wicketkeeper-batsman has played for virtually most teams in the IPL (being the captain of Kolkata Knight Riders, his last team before being released), except his 'home' team Chennai.
