Look! Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games closing ceremony

After 12 days of action, Tokyo said farewell to the Paralympics and the Games were celebrated at a musical and emotional closing ceremony. The Paralympic flame was put out, and the flag was handed to Paris to hold until the next Games in 2024.

Fireworks light up the sky above the Olympic Stadium. Like at the Closing Ceremony for the Olympics on August 8, this event saw the passing of the torch from Tokyo to Paris, the host of the 2024 Olympics and Paralympics.

The Paralympic flame is gradually extinguished during the closing ceremony. The flame turned purple, a colour used by the International Paralympic Committee and other organizations to symbolize people with disabilities, before being put out.
