BORUSSIA DORTMUND: There will be a lot of pressure on the German side to perform as they’ve only won one Champions League title, back in 1997. This could be their chance to make history after 24 years.

LIVERPOOL: They were champions of Europe in 2019 but they’ve taken a sharp nosedive in the league. If they win this one, it will be their seventh Champions League crown and could rescue an otherwise disappointing season.

MANCHESTER CITY: They might be touting trebles here and there, but City have never won a Champions League title. The closest they got to the throne was in 2015-16, when Real Madrid beat them in the semifinals.

PARIS ST-GERMAIN: It took the French team a record 110 Champions League matches before they got to the final of the competition last season, only to be beaten by Bayern. But PSG, who kicked Barca out of the competition, could be eyeing their first title win this season.

FC PORTO: The last time Porto won the Champions League was in 2003-04, and their only win before that was in 1986-87. This year they were responsible for knocking Juventus and Ronaldo out of the competition.

REAL MADRID: The Spanish giants hold the record for the most Champions League titles in the competition’s history, winning it on 13 different occasions. The first time was in 1955-56, and the last was in 2017-18 when they beat Liverpool; Sergio Ramos infamously tackled star striker Mo Salah, resulting in a dream-crushing dislocated shoulder for the Egyptian winger.

CHELSEA: The Blues have reached the quarterfinals of the competition for the first time in seven years, after securing a 3-0 aggregate win against Atletico Madrid.

Bayern Munich: The defending champs from Germany have won six titles between 1995 and 2020. If they manage another win this season, they will equal AC Milan for second-most Champions League wins in history (seven total). The draw for the quarterfinals will commence on March 19 at 3pm UAE time.
