Several incidents of violence were reported in the Indian state of Gujarat on Tuesday night after the detention of 22-year-old Hardik Patel who is leading the Patel community’s protest demanding reservation in job and education sector and in the Other Backward Classes(OBC) list. Up to 12 percent population in Gujarat comprises of the Patel community. The list of OBC currently consists of 146 communities who are opposing the demand of Patels fearing their quota will shrink.
