Hillary Clinton made history Tuesday by becoming the first woman to win the presidential nomination of a major US political party, securing the backing of Democrats at a convention in Philadelphia. The former first lady, senator and secretary of state took a monumental step on her quest to become America’s first female commander-in-chief.

Right after this Hillary Clinton herself tweeted one word:

@HillaryClinton: “History.”

@TheDemocrats: “Our fight has just begun. RT if you’re ready to elect Hillary Clinton as the next President of the United States.”

Here is what the response on social media looked like:

@RaysMusicStore: “#ImWithHer come on #Hillary! Anyone that thinks #DonaldTrump is for anyone other than himself is delusional!”

@Photoshots: “Oh Dear, I love the USA, but fear what is going to become of it. What a choice Trump or Clinton? OMG!”

@omgofinternet: “Does Hillary Clinton deserve the extra hatred she gets, or is there a double standard? Why or why not?”

Jeffrey Bertollini: “She’s definitely not my choice... But she is the only choice left.”

Tim Crenshaw: “I might vote for a third party candidate. The election isn’t decided by the popular vote... The point is, my vote doesn’t matter and neither does yours. If you want to throw it away on a third party candidate, you can. Maybe if enough people throw their votes away, people will realize you don’t have to choose the lesser of two evils. Maybe I’m just privileged, pretentious, ridiculous, selfish...”

Aela Callan: “Love her or not, it’s a huge moment for women everywhere. Take that, patriarchy.”

Rasmus Sylvester Forsberg Outzen: “Many progressives remain wary of Hillary Clinton— but she has the war-hawks firmly behind her.”

Patty Kennedy: “In spite of bogus stories from the right; 90% of unwavering Bernie supporters now plan to vote for Hillary.”

Harry Albino: “I think it’s hilarious that Trump is using 25 year old footage to discredot Hillary. But the truth is, people evolve over a lifetime and change their opinions. It’s their right to do so. Doesn’t make them bad people. Doesn’t make them liars. Just means you view the world different as you age. Are your going to tell me you see the world the same at 50 as you did at 20? Of course not.”
