Kate Lynn Blatt is the first transgender women to sue under American disability act for gender dysphoria, according to her Philadelphia based lawyer, Neelima Vanguri. A district judge ruled out the decision taken under Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), as the plaintiff has sought under legal principles that court should avoid taking a decision on constitutional grounds. Being a transgender is not a disability but it can create a mental disorder like gender dysphoria. Simply being a transgender would not be sufficient evidence but being a gender dysphoria can be worthy of protection against discrimination. Due to excessive discrimination at the workplace, this issue has arisen. Blatt had to fight for her rights and sustain all the harassment from her employer. Gender discrimination is an epidemic which has spread. Being of a different gender is an identity crisis and most societies do not recognise such people. There are many people like Blatt, all around the world, who are fighting for their rights. However, only very few people succeed in successfully making a difference in the legal system, and changing the rules. It is definitely a long struggle to sculpt yourself as a person and feel like you belong. Some people don’t want to hear the truth as they don’t want their illusion of the world to be destroyed. It is not simply a transition from one person to another, but it is about being yourself.
