Dubai: The Emirates International Forensics Conference and Exhibition slated for April 9-11 will offer a forum for police, forensic and criminology specialists to share latest expertise and technology to better solve crimes and using science to serve justice, said authorities.

More than 2,000 people will participate in the conference and will attend sessions addressed by 46 forensic experts from 25 countries who will lead the conference.

The forum, organised by Dubai Police and INDEX Conferences and Exhibition, will offer a wealth of new data to delegates, said Major-General Khalil Ebrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police for Criminal Investigation.

“Crime is changing and now we have different types of crime which didn’t exist in the past like cybercrimes. Dubai Police want to apply the best international standards in its laboratories at its forensic science and criminology facility,” Maj-Gen Al Mansouri said.

Dubai Police are always working towards enhancing their skills to solve complicated crimes.

“We reached a level that there is no unsolved crime in Dubai,” he added.

The conference will be held under the theme ‘Science Serving Justice’ at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

“It is an international scientific platform where the best minds in forensic science and criminology will convene to discuss the most recent research, studies, and technologies,” he said.

Meanwhile, Major-General Dr Ahmad Eid Al Mansouri, director of Dubai Police’s Forensic Science and Criminology Department, said the international experts will be joined by scientists from the GCC and experts from the UAE.

“We will display the latest methods to identify suspects like voice and eye identification. In the future, we need more innovative forensic methods and gadgets to counter crimes. The conference is an opportunity to share the latest technologies and patterns used in forensics,” said Maj-Gen Dr Eid Al Mansouri.

“Dubai is the first city in the [region] that organises a specialised event of this nature that also includes workshops, training sessions and research,” said conference chairman Abdul Al Madani.

Al Madani added that the conference will attract experts from Asia, Africa, Europe and America in the field of forensics and criminology.
