Dubai: A total of 458 students received their engineering degrees as the 15th batch of BITS Pilani, Dubai Campus, graduated recently.

The degrees, which ranged from PhD, masters and bachelors in various disciplines, were awarded in a convocation ceremony at BITS Pilani’s Dubai Campus in the Academic City.

Awards for academic excellence and all-round achievement were given to deserving students.

The occasion was graced by the Indian consul-general to Dubai, Vipul, who congratulated the graduates.

Hailing the BITS students for winning grants, for four innovative projects under Expo 2020, he said: “The students are the best brains on new technologies therefore, India with its talent pool and UAE with its wonderful work atmosphere that truly encourages entrepreneurship can build confluence in new technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and blockchain.”

Adressing the graduates remotely, Dr Kumar Mangalam Birla, chancellor of BITS Pilani, stressed that with the gift of the best of education, graduates will stay focused and relevant in the VUCA world — military acronym for volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous.

He urged the students to become entrepreneurs, which he said is about dreaming big, being adventurous and showing inherent faith in oneself.

BITS Pilani was recenlty conferred the status of Institute of Eminence and has been ranked in the World University ranking of both THE (Times Higher Education) and QS (‎Quacquarelli Symonds).

The institute’s Dubai Campus received an award for Strongest Faculty Engagement in EXPO Live University Innovation Programme for an impassioned participation from its faculty as academic evaluators.
