Manama: Shaikha Fariha Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, the sister of Kuwait’s Emir Shaikh Sabah Al Ahmad, has passed away.

Reports in Kuwait said that Shaikha Fariha died in Egypt late on Sunday and several public figures posted their condolences to the emir and to the Al Sabah family on social media.

An iconic philanthropic figure, Shaikha Fariha was involved in numerous charitable activities and pro-family initiatives, including the Ideal Mother and ways to protect the youth, both in Kuwait and across the Arab world.

She was also known for her wholehearted support of the political, social and economic empowerment of Kuwaiti women and campaigned for their right to reach the top.

ٍShaikha Fariha has won several international awards in recognition of her work promoting family safety, philanthropy and volunteerism.
