Ramadan moon has been sighted in India and Pakistan, marking the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan on Thursday, May 17.
Muslims all around the world will be keeping fast from crack of dawn to dusk.
The moon has been sighted on Wednesday in Delhi, Surat and Chennai; in Pakistan, the moon was also sighted in Lower Dir, Buner, Nathiagali, Abottabad, Quetta, among others.
After the Pakistan's Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee sighted the moon on Wednesday, it was declared that the first Ramdan will be observed on Thursday, May 17, Mufti Munib-ur-Rehman announced at a press conference in Karachi.
The committee led by Mufti Munib met on Wednesday for sighting of the Ramadan moon.
The meeting was held at the main office of the Meteorological Department where evidence of moon sighting was collected.
