Dubai: When you apply for a visit visa to the UAE, whether for a sibling or a relative, you may need make a security deposit.

Here we explain what are the regulations surrounding deposits and how much you need to pay.

Applying through the General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs – Dubai (GDRFA), you need to pay the following refundable security deposit:

  • Dh1,020 for first-degree relatives (parents, children, siblings)
  • Dh2,020 for second degree relatives
  • There is also a minimum salary requirement:

  • Dh3,500 plus accommodation or Dh4,000 for parent/s or child.
  • Dh6,000 to sponsor a sibling, any other relative or friend.
  • However, if you apply through a typing centre or a tourist agency, you could possibly avoid paying the deposit. You may also need to present less paperwork as the agency is the sponsor. Amer offices require that UAE residents applying for a visit visa provide documents like an Arabic salary certificate, the latest electricity and water bill and tenancy contract.
