Get free public parking on New Year’s Day in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah
Dubai: Residents and visitors in the UAE can kick off 2025 with free parking on New Year's Day, as transport authorities across the country have announced complimentary parking for the public holiday. Here is what you need to know:
The Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) has confirmed free parking on Wednesday, January 1, 2025. Regular parking fees (MAWAQiF) will resume at 8 am on Thursday, January 2. The Musaffah M-18 truck parking lot will also offer free parking during the holiday.
Drivers are reminded to:
Avoid parking in prohibited areas.
Use designated parking spaces.
Refrain from parking in residential zones between 9pm and 8am.
The Darb toll gate system will be inactive on New Year’s Day and will resume on Thursday during peak hours (7am to 9am and 5pm to 7pm).
All public parking areas in Dubai (except multi-storey car parks) will be free on Wednesday, January 1, 2025. Paid parking services will restart on Thursday, January 2.
For those celebrating New Year’s Eve at Downtown Dubai or Burj Khalifa fireworks, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has designated alternative parking spots at:
Al Wasl Club
Al Kifaf
General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA)
Shuttle buses will provide free transport to and from these locations. Alternatively, visitors can use Metro stations with parking facilities at:
Jebel Ali
Etisalat by e&
Centrepoint
Jumeirah Golf Estates
Public parking in Sharjah will be free on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, except for the seven-day paid zones, which remain operational. These zones are marked with blue parking information signs. Paid parking will resume on Thursday, January 2.
