    UAE: Left your car unwashed for ages? It could get confiscated

    Dubai Municipality removes dirty, damaged cars, auctioning them off if unclaimed

    It is important that cars are not left unwashed or damaged in Dubai, especially in public places.

    Dubai Municipality’s ‘My Vehicle’ campaign focuses on maintaining public safety.

    This includes dirty, damaged vehicles or one that is obstructing the cleaning of the city.

    What happens if the car is not cleaned or moved?

    1. The owner will be notified via SMS on the registered mobile number connected with the vehicle

    2. If action is not taken within the time stipulated in the message, the car will then be moved to the Dubai Municipality scrap yard.

    If the owners claim the car in this time, they have to pay a fine of Dh1,381, including municipal fines, storage charges and towing fee.

    3. Vehicle will be auctioned if not retrieved by the owner

    Fines  - Cars left dirty can be fined Dh500.

    If the mobile number registered with the vehicle is no longer in use, you can also request the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) to update the number.

    1.	Call RTA on 800 9090. 2.	Select vehicle licensing services. 3.	Provide the number plate along with verification details like your date of birth or Emirates ID number. 4.	Provide the updated mobile number.

    Once you have completed the process, you will receive any notifications from authorities related to your car on the updated number.
