Dubai: Met with an accident in the UAE? Police authorities have rolled out smart services that make it easier for motorists to report minor traffic accidents, which do not involve any human injuries, through smartphone applications.
The Ministry of Interior’s smartphone application – MOI UAE – which is available for Apple and Android smartphones, offers the service for motorists in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain. Here is how you can use the Ministry’s service.
How to register with the Ministry of Interior app
You can register with the Ministry of Interior app using your UAE PASS details or with your Emirates ID.
If you want to register using your Emirates ID, follow these steps:
1. Enter your Emirates ID number.
2. The system will detect the mobile number registered with the Emirates ID and ask for confirmation, before sending a one-time password on it. If you do not recognise the mobile number, or are using a new number, here is how you can update the mobile number registered with your Emirates ID.
3. You will then be asked to set your username and password, along with providing an email address.
Steps to report an accident
Step 1: Select ‘Issue a minor traffic accident report’.
Step 2: Select ‘Report an accident’.
Step 3: The system will first confirm if the accident is minor. In case there are any injuries that require medical attention, you are required to call the police hotline on 999.
Step 4: Confirm the location by moving the pin on the map.
Step 5: Enter your vehicle’s details and attach the relevant pictures showing the damage.
Step 6: Enter the other vehicle’s details and attach images of the damage.
Step 7: Confirm the receipt of the request.
Once you submit the accident report, you will receive an accident report from the app through a smart notification. This can then be used for any insurance procedures for repair work that may be needed.
