Dubai: Have you been putting off on receiving your booster shot for COVID-19 vaccine? You might face issues in case you are visiting Abu Dhabi, or plan on visiting public places that require the Al Hosn Green Pass. This is because the Al Hosn app status will turn grey if you have not received your booster shot within six months of receiving your second COVID-19 vaccine dose.

On January 16, the Al Hosn app’s Twitter account posted: “UPDATE: Booster doses for all types of vaccinations are required. Make sure to book yours now if it’s been six months since you completed your vaccination to maintain the Green Pass.”

On January 17, they once again highlighted the need to get a booster shot, regardless of the vaccine you may have received.

The tweet read: “Booster doses for all types of vaccinations are required. Make sure to book yours now if its been six months since you completed your vaccination to maintain the Green Pass.”

Green Pass needed to enter Abu Dhabi

If you are planning to visit Abu Dhabi, it is essential to have your Green Pass status active, or you will not be allowed to pass through. As per the Abu Dhabi Media Office’s announcement, from December 30, 2021, entering the emirate from within the UAE requires showing Green Status on the Al Hosn App for vaccinated people.

What if I am not fully vaccinated or haven’t received the booster shot?

Unvaccinated individuals are required to present a negative PCR test result received within 96 hours, as per the announcement by Abu Dhabi Media Office.

EDE scanners to rapidly detect potential COVID-19 cases at entry points to the emirate, further enhancing precautionary measures and protect public health.

Where can I get a booster shot?

Booster shots are being offered across the UAE, through the Emirates Health Services (EHS), Abu Dhabi’s Department of Health as well as the Dubai Health Authority (DHA).

In Dubai, DHA is providing the booster shot for Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.

If you have received two doses of Pfizer-BioNTech, Oxford-AstraZeneca/Covidshield, Moderna or Sputnik, you are eligible for a booster shot of Pfizer-BioNTech six months after the second shot. To read the detailed breakdown for eligibility of the booster dose from DHA, click here.

EHS is also providing booster shots for the Sinopharm, Sputnik V and Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.

In Abu Dhabi, you are required to get the COVID-19 booster shot after six months of having received the second shot as well.

After the booster shot, you also need a negative PCR report

Once you have received the booster shot, you would also need to get a negative PCR test report, which would then turn the status Green for the next 14 days.
