Dubai: Next week, you have the chance to relive the magic of Expo 2020 Dubai for free as Expo City Dubai celebrates International Museum Day. On May 17 and 18, the city is offering free entry to its attractions, the Expo 2020 Dubai Museum and the iconic Garden in the Sky.
What is International Museum Day?
International Museum Day is an annual event held on or around May 18, coordinated by the International Council of Museums. Each year, the event highlights a different theme, reflecting a significant issue or topic that museums around the world are addressing. It’s a day to raise awareness about the vital role museums play in society.
To mark International Museum Day, Expo City Dubai is offering visitors the chance to relive the Expo 2020 magic and experience stunning views from Garden in the Sky, all for free. Here’s what you can enjoy:
Garden in the Sky:
Take a thrilling ride 55 meters above the ground, offering breathtaking 360° views of Dubai. As the cabin rotates, you’ll get a panoramic look at the city. The garden features 10 Peltophorum Inerme trees and is connected by stairs to an air-conditioned lower floor. Normally priced at Dh40 per person, you can enjoy this incredible experience at no cost on May 17 and 18.
Expo 2020 Dubai Museum:
Step back into the world of Expo 2020 and discover its lasting legacy. The museum brings the best of the Expo to life, highlighting the global experiences, innovations, and connections that defined the event.
Timings:
Expo City Dubai attractions: 10am to 10pm
Garden in the Sky: 2pm - 10pm
For those looking for even more, for just Dh25 (normally Dh160), you can explore three iconic pavilions: Terra, Alif, and Vision. It’s a full day of excitement and discovery, perfect for those who want to dive deeper into the Expo experience.
From 2 pm to 6 pm on both days, visitors can also meet Expo 2020 Dubai’s beloved mascots, Rashid and Latifa. These two characters will greet you, bringing back cherished memories of Expo, and are sure to provide plenty of smiles and photo opportunities.
To enjoy these free offerings, visitors must register in advance. Simply visit the registration page - terra.expocitydubai.com/en/POI/international-museum-day, scroll down, and click “Register Your Interest.” You’ll be asked to provide your name, email, mobile number, and preferred visit date. After registration, you will receive a confirmation email. You can visit Expo City Dubai anytime between 10am and 10pm on May 17 and 18.
How to get to Expo City Dubai
By Metro:
The fastest and most sustainable way to reach Expo City Dubai is by metro. The Dubai Metro Red Line will take you directly to the Expo 2020 station, located in the heart of Expo City Dubai.
By Car:
If you're driving, Expo City Dubai is easily accessible from Expo Road (E77), off Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road (E311) and Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan al Nahyan Street (D54). Follow signs for the Opportunity and Sustainability Parking areas, where you'll find 15,000 parking spaces available.
