Dubai: Receiving a job offer to work in the UAE can be an exciting opportunity but before making any commitments, it is important to ensure the offer is genuine to avoid fake employment offers and visa scams that  can leave jobseekers vulnerable to fraud and exploitation. Fortunately, there are official ways to verify both the job offer and the legitimacy of the hiring company through the UAE’s Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE). Here's how to protect yourself and confirm that your offer is valid.

How to verify job offers in the UAE

If you receive a job offer to work in the UAE, it's essential to ensure that the offer is genuine and officially recognised. All legitimate job offers must be issued through the UAE’s Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE).

Employers are required to use a contract form approved by MOHRE when applying for a work permit. These job offer forms include a unique serial number or barcode, allowing you to easily verify their authenticity. While the employment contract may include additional benefits beyond those listed in the initial offer, the offer letter remains the basis for the contract and must match in terms of agreed terms and conditions.

What should a UAE job offer letter include?

According to MOHRE, every valid offer letter issued by the Ministry must include the following details:

  • Type of contract

  • Salary (monthly, daily, commission-based, etc.)

  • Weekly leave entitlement

  • Notice period and other relevant conditions

  • Starting date of employment

  • Job title or role

  • Company number

How to confirm your job offer is valid

If you are outside the UAE and have received a job offer, the first step is to check with the UAE embassy in your country. Embassy officials can help verify whether the offer is genuine. You can also verify your job offer using MOHRE’s online enquiry service. Here’s how:

  1. Visit the official MOHRE website at www.mohre.gov.ae.

  2. Go to the menu and click on Services.

  3. From the dropdown list, select New Enquiry Services.

  4. On the services page, click on Enquiry Services, then scroll down and choose Enquiry for Job Offer.

You will then be prompted to enter the following job offer details:

  • Transaction Number

  • Company Number

  • From Date

  • To Date

  • Permit Type (If you are an employee verifying a job offer, select ‘All Work Permits’)

After submitting the required information, the system will display the offer letter if it is officially registered with MOHRE. If the letter is not in the system, then the offer may be fraudulent or has not been submitted properly by the employer.

Most offer letters will mention the transaction number and company number. These are generated once the employer or recruitment agency uploads the offer to MOHRE’s system. If they are not included, you should ask the employer to provide them.

Once the offer letter is signed, the employer will issue an employment visa for you to enter the UAE. You can refer to points 8 and 9 of the employment visa process to confirm the validity of your entry permit.

It is also important to ensure that the terms in your employment contract match those in the job offer you signed before arriving in the UAE. Employers are required to provide you with a copy of the signed job offer for your records.

How to check if the company is legitimate

To confirm that the company legally exists and is officially licensed in the UAE, you can search for its details using the National Economic Registry (NER):

  1. Visit the official NER website at www.growth.gov.ae.

  2. From the main menu, under Services, click on Inquire about Economic Licences.

  3. Log in using your UAE Pass account to be redirected to the enquiry page.

  4. Enter the business name in both Arabic and English and complete the CAPTCHA verification to proceed.

This will give you access to detailed information about the company’s licensing and legal status.
