Dubai: If you are flying in or out of Dubai International Airport (DXB) anytime soon, it is important to reach out to your airline to reconfirm which terminal your flight would be taking off from, or landing at. This is because DXB has reopened Terminal 1 and Concourse D from today (June 24), and over 40 international carriers that were operating at Terminals 2 and 3 will gradually return to their home terminal (Terminal 1) at DXB.

The facilities were closed on March 25, 2020 following the partial suspension of operations at DXB as part of its COVID-19 response.

In the announcement made on June 20, Dubai Airports advised passengers to confirm the terminal of departure and arrival with their airline prior to coming to the airport as the transition will be managed in several stages, with the plan for relocation to be completed by the end of June.

As the two terminals are located at a distance, it is important to reconfirm which terminal your flight will be docked at, to avoid any last-minute scramble.

How to reach Terminal 2 (Location)

Coming from the direction of Abu Dhabi towards Sharjah, you would need to take Al Ittihad Road E11. A few kilometers after you cross the Garhoud or Maktoum bridge, follow the signs for D91 – Al Quds Road. You will find the airport area to your right, with cargo airplanes visible, while you are still on E11. At the first junction, turn right towards Al Quds Road (Exit 62) when you see an automobile showroom on your right.

Once you are on Al Quds Road, you would need to drive down approximately two kilometers, and you will find the Terminal 2 Departures building on your right. The entry for the terminal will be on your right as soon as you drive down the road. Take the right turn towards 16th street and the road will lead you to the departure terminal entrance. Parking spaces are available nearby.

Driving from the direction of Sharjah towards Dubai, you would once again need to take E11 and soon after crossing Al Mulla Plaza on your left hand side, follow directions for D91 – Al Quds Street. At the junction after Al Qiyadah Metro Station, turn left for D91. Once you are on Al Quds Road, you will find the entrance for Terminal 2 Departures building on your right, after driving approximately two kilometers down D91.

Directions from Airport Tunnel

You can also access Terminal 2 from the Airport Tunnel Road/Beirut Street D62. Coming from the direction of Abu Dhabi to Sharjah, take the first exit after the Airport Tunnel, following signs for D91. Coming from the Sharjah end, you would need to come straight from the junction with the Al Qusais Metro Station on your right. Take the free right at the second junction, following signs for D91.

On this route, you will find the Terminal 2 building falling on the other side of the road, on your left hand side. Take the U-turn at the junction as soon as you cross the airport building to your left, and follow signs for Terminal 2, taking a right for 16th Street.

How to reach Terminal 1 and 3 (Location)

The directions to follow for Terminal 1 and 3 are quite different, and relatively easier, whether you are coming from the direction of Abu Dhabi or Sharjah.

Coming from the direction of Abu Dhabi, follow signs for D89 Airport Road. If you are taking the Al Maktoum bridge, turn right from the Clocktower Roundabout. The road will lead you straight towards the two terminals.

If you are taking the Al Garhoud Bridge, keep right as you will find the exit for D89 Airport Road while you are still on the bridge. The exit will initially take you down Casablanca Street – D70 – and you would then need to take a right at the Prime Hospital junction. The road will take you straight towards the two terminals.

Coming from Sharjah, if you are taking E11, you would need to take Exit 61 towards Airport Road D89.
