Rivera to play Darna

Marian Rivera got another big surprise when it was announced that she would take on the role of the well-loved Pinoy superhero, Darna, for her next TV project after finishing Ang Babaeng Hinugot sa Aking Tadyang.

Many expected Ang Babaeng to be a major hit like her previous efforts - Marimar and Dyesebel and although the TV show still is a major top-rater, it is not the big success it was expected to be.

Rivera's home studio executives are making sure she now comes back with a bang with a child-friendly soap after her current show ends in May, and there couldn't be a better choice than Darna.

Rivera is the first actress since Vilma Santos to have had the opportunity to play two of the most coveted roles in Philippine showbusiness - Darna and Dyesebel.
