Christian and Alan Anadon will perform at Cielo Sky Lounge on Thursday night
On Thursday night, one of Ibiza’s most popular DJ brothers will hit Dubai. The Mambo Brothers of Cafe Mambo Ibiza, Christian and Alan Anadon, will perform a set at Cielo Sky Lounge, and they plan to bring “the best of tech house and deep house from Ibiza this summer”.
How is it, exactly, that they discover the creme de la creme of music to spin behind the decks?
“We’re really lucky to hear some of the best DJs play at Mambo every single day in summer — we discover a lot of great new music thanks to them,” Alan told tabloid!. “We also go to the clubs many nights, and we have a few friends who show us new stuff.”
In preparation for their UAE appearance, Alan told tabloid! about their current favourite tracks, and why they hope to bring the world’s most famous sunset to the heart of Dubai.
Q: What’s your earliest DJing memory?
A: Back in the late 90’s, Christian used to DJ at Savannah Beach Club, and then a bit later, when we were in university, we used to [go] through a few parties. That’s when we really started to DJ together. Some crazy nights and crazy parties.
Q: Can you tell us a little bit about your decision to take over Cafe Mambo, and if it’s hard mixing business with pleasure?
A: Cafe Mambo is still very much run by our father, who started the business. We work all together, making things happen and making sure we offer the best to everyone who comes down. We try to find time for everything. In summer, we are quite busy with work. We are so lucky to have a long winter to be able to travel and DJ in great new places.
Q: What’s your greatest and most unforgettable memory at Cafe Mambo?
A: A great memory was our first Mambo in the Mix, a yearly charity event we do at Cafe Mambo, where DJ’s like Carl Cox, Armin Van Buuren, Eric Prydz, Roger Sanchez, Nervo, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Laidback Luke, MK, Jamie Jones, Seth Troxler, Junior Sanchez, Duane Harden, Vula from Basement Kaxx, and many more got behind the bar to serve drinks and on the grill to raise funds for the Ibiza Red Cross. It was the biggest single fundraiser event that the Spanish Red Cross has ever participated in.
Q: Any plans to open a branch in Dubai in the future?
A: We have spoken about it many times in the last few years with people from Dubai that wanted to bring the Cafe Mambo concept to UAE. We would love to do it, but take our time to do something special in the way we do it. For us, Cafe Mambo is a very special place — when we started 20 year ago, maybe only 500 people used to come down to watch sunset. Nowadays, the area attracts more than 25,000 visitors every day in summer, which probably makes it the world’s most famous sunset. Imagine if we could do this in Dubai in a few years. Find us a great sunset — and we are there!
Q: What are the hottest tracks on your set right now?
A: A few of our favourites: After Dark by &ME, Benediction (Nic Fanciulli Remix) by Hot Natured, and Crossfade (Maceo Plex Remix) by GusGus.
