The show was without any major gaffes, except for Miss Philippines' answer when asked what her biggest mistake in life was and how she fixed it. "In my 22 years of existence, I can say there is nothing major," Venus Raj said. Before the pageant, Raj was rated among the top contestants in an online poll on the pageant's website. Miss Mexico may have won the contest, but it looks like Miss Philippines is winning the Twitter battle.

The response of Venus Raj to Billy Baldwin’s question, “What is one big mistake that you’ve made in your life, and what did you do to make it right?” has won her plenty of fans in her home country, and sparked a trending topic on the micro-blogging site, with many fans saying her answer isn’t what the American press call, a ‘goof-up’.

“It may not have been the best answer but the truth is, Venus Raj uplifted our spirits this morning and that’s what matters,” tweeted simplychummy, while maria_909, among many others, retweeted the message, “It took one man to bring the country to shame. Let one woman bring back its flame. VENUS RAJ”.

Her response was criticised for its youthful style, specifically the use of the words “major-major”.

“Thank you so much Sir, for that wonderful question,” she said on the night. “You know what Sir, in my 22 years of existence I can say that there is nothing major-major, I mean, problem that I have done in my life. Because I am very confident with my family, with the love that they are giving to me. So, thank you so much that I am here. Thank you, thank you so much,” she answered.

Raj told Philippine TV channel GMA 7 on Tuesday, that her new-found popularity on Twitter made her “proud 'major-major' is giving her country honour”.
