Ruffle some fashion feathers and copy the stars with this hot look
Feel like spreading your sartorial wings? Now is the perfect time to be flighty because feathers are having a fashion moment. Spotted on the catwalks of Chanel, Galliano and Versace and slated to be a huge trend for next spring, autumn's fixation with feathers has inspired a pluming marvellous array of high street pieces that inject undiluted fashion fun into your autumn wardrobe.
From glam trimmings on gowns and coats to full-on feathered hats, headpieces and Navajo-inspired jewellery, every kind of feather made its mark on the runway and Hollywood has swooped on the trend. From Rihanna's head-turning ostrich plume Antonio Berardi tunic to Emma Roberts' sweetly adorned Chanel shift and Olivia's funky mini, feathers are the glamazon's embellishment du jour.
More of a boho babe? Super-cool French designer, Isabel Marant, has got the fashion pack in a flap with her awesome feathered earrings, which look just as hot with a hippy-chic ensemble as they do with a slinky LBD. And if you're inspired to take a fashion flight of fancy, stick to a few simple rules: Only a bird brain would wear more than one feathered piece at a time, so if you take the plunge with an all-over plumed frock, keep accessories feather-free. Conversely, a feather-trimmed bag, boot or necklace is just the thing to take a simple outfit skywards.
