Pampered: Clean and clear

As a Mediterranean woman who has always had a problem with unwanted facial hair, I have been through a lot of treatments (and pain) to try and get rid of it. Most of these were not as effective as I had expected so I decided to get yet another assessment, this time from Rebecca Treston at the EuroMed clinic.

The appointment started off with a consultation to find the best method for hair removal for me. While most of the hair I have left is not as thick and dark as it used to be (thanks to seven years of endless treatments with different kinds of laser), there were still a few stubborn, thick hairs left. I expected my full face to be treated with laser. However, Rebecca suggested a different formula to address both kinds of hair.

She first treated the few thicker hairs with Elite laser using the Alexandrite 755 wavelength for the permanent removal of hair. Then she proceeded to remove the fine dark downy hairs with the spectra vrm3 laser, which is known as laser bleaching. The latter has a Q-switch laser, which is able to shatter the pigment in the hair structure turning the hair blonde then shortly after, the hairs will fall out, leaving the area hair-free for two-three months.

Rebecca made it clear that unlike the Elite Laser, laser bleaching is not permanent but is the most effective method for the fine hair. And the added benefits of this treatment are facial rejuvenation — which I noticed right after the treatment.

After the laser, I was given a mask to cool my face and soon after, the results were visible.

Having heard lots of promises of a permanently hair-free face — which were never met — I was glad to get an honest opinion, at last, which gave me realistic expectations to look forward to a clear, hair-free face for the next two months.
