Zayan the Label x Miyuki Ohashi

This season’s collection from s*uce founder Zayan Ghandour is a triple threat, combining her pretty style with the work of Miyuki Ohashi, an illustrator who’s lent her skills to the likes of Christian Dior, Shiseido and Elle — plus, it’s all inspired by Jane Birkin. Classic “Jane motifs” — her thick mascara, straw hat, flower basket — are incorporated into dresses and separates in pink lace with an embroidered tulle overlay, and trompe l’oeil tops and jerseys. The collection, called Darling Je T’aime, is at the Zayan The Label boutique at The Galleria Mall, Al Wasl Road, zayanthelabel.com, s*uce boutiques and Bloomingdale’s - Dubai.

Shoe Box

Footwear obsessives, point your toes in the direction of Galeries Lafayette in The Dubai Mall. The department store has expanded its selection and put it all in a new area, called, aptly, Shoe Box. There are more than 400 styles from 65 brands in the section, on the store’s first floor, which opened on Sunday. Think Burberry, Karl Lagerfeld, Fratelli Rossetti, Kenzo and Casadei as well as must-have sportswear styles from Nike, Converse and Adidas (you know it’s still all about the white trainer). Expect pieces from emerging shoe brands such as Nadya Hassan, who will exclusively launch her collection in the Shoe Box by the end of March, and Poca Poca (this Polish brand’s super-pretty womenswear is already in store).

We talk a lot about the big hitters of the international e-tail scene (they are very interested in the UAE, by the way — Matches had a private pop-up for its top customers in the country this week). And this page is a regular showcase of super-fun and cute local brands that will also deliver in a click, such as Zayan or West LA. But few of those are selling Indianwear, which is why Dori — which means ‘thread’ in Hindi — caught our eye. The stock is a mix of tops, skirts, dresses, suits and lehengas, jewellery and accessories. Bhavya Airan’s brainchild is also sold in bricks-and-mortar: each week at the Ripe Market at Mushrif and soon at Label 24.

Jourdan Dunn x M&S

The British high-street favourite (case in point: Costume designer Jenny Beavan collected her Oscar for Mad Max wearing a Marks and Spencer leather jacket on Sunday) keeps on racking up the big-name collaborations. Hot on the heels of announcing Alexa Chung’s archival collection comes the news that supermodel Jourdan Dunn is launch her first childrenswear collection with M&S. Lil’ LonDunn by Jourdan Dunn is modelled on her six-year-old son, Riley. The 22-piece range is for boys and girls, ages 5-16, and will be in M&S stores from May. It’s part of the ‘M&S &*’ series — we can’t wait to see who’s next.
